June 8-9, 2007 South Sound Traditional Inuit Kayak Symposium (SSTIKS), Twanoh State Park, Belfair Washington

Shown here are tools that you could bring if you have them - but there will be tools for loan as well. Most of the work will be done with a block plane. On the left of the picture are three good examples. Top to bottom a Veritas low angle block plane, a Veritas Apron plane, and a Stanley #220. A spokeshave is another good carving tool, shown here is a Veritas low angle spokeshave. Other tools that come in very handy are a 3' straightedge, a 6" C- Clamp, and a combination square. If you have a plane, and/or any of the marking/measuring tools, please bring them. And if not, no worries - there will be tools to loan. Please don't buy tools just for the class.
