Labor Day Weekend with Ginni Callahan

Location: Tillamook Head

Date: September 5, 2006

Participants: Ginni Callahan, Don Beale

A partially foggy day of coastal paddling, playing in the rock gardens, and learning about wave formation and timing.
We flooded the rear hatch on the Night Heron, and were playing with rescues in the surf and rolling with it. Rescues in the surf are no easy task - what an eye-opener. I had known they could be done but had no idea how difficult it is. Something more to practice!
When we stopped for lunch, I found it easier to hop onto the ground than to try to sit on the back deck as I usually do. Of course, the next wave tossed seaweed on me, and on the boat.
